When the Nissan Group announced its total US automotive market sales, it was clear that although deliveries jumped more than 23% compared to 22, its performance was far behind Toyota and Honda.
The biggest Japanese automaker was second overall on the market with more than 2.24 million sales, tucked between GM's 2.6 million and Ford Motor Company's almost two million units. With a total of nearly 899k, Nissan couldn't even compare with the rivals from American Honda, for example, which moved 1.3 million vehicles through their nationwide dealerships.
In fact, even Acura aims for 150k sales in 2024, while Nissan's premium division, Infiniti, barely made almost 65k last year. No worries, though, as the company will strive to keep up the good work and rise organically after 2023, the luxury unit jumped almost 39%. To keep up the momentum, Infiniti is preparing something big to do battle with the Lexus LX 600, Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, BMW X7, Range Rover, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, or the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
More precisely, Infiniti is finally ready to come out with the (Z63) third generation 2025 QX80 featuring lots of Monograph concept cues. The arrival is inevitable – our spy photographer partners were hard at work capturing the full-size luxury SUV clad in beefy camouflage but still unable to hide the fact that Nissan Armada's ritzier twin is ready to adopt the QX80 Monograph cues. Additionally, Infiniti teased the successor of the QX56 with a segment-first audio system from Klipsch.
Dubbed Klipsch Reference Premiere Audio System, this setup features a staggering 24 speakers, including an 8.0-inch subwoofer, titanium tweeters, and a 24-channel amplifier. The debut is scheduled this year, and we are fully expecting Nissan to drop the 5.6-liter VK56VD V8 engine and its seven-speed automatic transmission from under the hood in favor of something smaller. The rumor mill believes that Nissan Z and Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400's VR30DDTT could be used as a base of operations, perhaps with a little more oomph than the 420 hp offered on the 2024 Z Nismo.
If it comes with more ponies, it will easily outperform the Lexus LX 600 (409 hp) and perhaps come close to Lincoln Navigator's 440-hp mill. Anyway, the design is just as important as the oily bits, of course, as the Infiniti QX80 faces a lot of competition from the other monolithic full-size luxury SUVs currently on sale on the US market. Well, if we are to believe the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, the best course of action would be to simply bring the Infiniti QX80 Monograph concept into series production with minimal changes and then offer it a sizeable wheel upgrade that's comparable to what the aftermarket realm has in store.
