Just as the Japanese appreciate their kei cars, the European motorist is madly in love with the city car segment. Be it a Renault, Volkswagen or Hyundai, the A-segment is a truly competitive market for all manufacturers. To grab a bigger slice of the sales pie, some carmakers employ the special edition treatment for the sole purpose of upping appeal.
Peugeot employed a similar strategy with the 108 recently. Dubbed the Peugeot 108 Roland Garros, this special edition urban dweller is highly specified and pays tribute to the 31-year-old partnership with the high-class French Open Tennis Championship.

Priced in the United Kingdom from £12,495, this lil’ bugger is based on the high-spec Allure grade, and it’s available only with the 1.2-liter PureTech motor. Coupled to a 5-speed manual, the puny engine is rated 82 horsepower. All things considered, that’s more than enough for a sub-900 kg (1,984 lbs) car.

Exclusively available as the TOP! cabriolet version, the Peugeot 108 Roland Garros special edition can be had with two paint finishes: Diamond White and Raven Black metallic. The eye candy is enhanced by Roland Garros branding, joined by orange side mirror caps. 15-inch Thorren wheels with orange-painted center caps round off the visual makeover.

On the inside, the cabin boasts Grey Rayura cloth seats with orange detailing and branded carpets to remind you that you’re sitting in a not-so-ordinary Peugeot 108. Want a good reason why the Roland Garros makes sense value-wise? The technically similar and similarly cabrio Toyota Aygo X-Wave is priced at £12,390, representing a £105 difference between the two siblings produced in the Czech Republic.
