There is a new semi-slick tire in town, and Pirelli claims it is the sportiest of them all. It was Pagani Automobili the company that requested it for the new Utopia hypercar. And this is how it turned out.
The racing-inspired semi-slick is called Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R, and it comes under the banner of "From Race to Road." The company refers to it as being the sportiest in the range and developed it specifically as standard equipment for supercars and hypercars.

Pagani Automobili needed some special rubber for the Utopia, the company’s latest hypercar and Huayra's replacement. The Utopia is a mid-engine model that the Italians presented at the Teatro Libro in Milan, Italy, back in September 2022.

The Italian carmaker worked on their third hypercar for six years. They put in it a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 designed and built by Mercedes-AMG. In the Utopia, it delivers 852 hp (864 PS) and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque, all sent straight to the rear axle.

Customers can order Pagani's hypercar with either a manual or an automated manual, mated to an electro-mechanical differential by a triple plate clutch. Hopefully, future owners appreciate the manual more than the robo box.

Pagani has not released any info on performance, but we assume that the 2,822-pound (1,280-kilogram) dry weight helps when it comes to the 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) run and top speed.

Pagani is planning on building 99 examples of the closed coupe model. All 99 of them have already been assigned to customers. They are set to be built at a rate of just one per week at the factory in San Cesario sul Panaro in Modena, Italy.

Those who want to drive one home will have to consider transferring $2.19 million into Pagani's bank account.

The carmaker has already uploaded on YouTube a video of a Utopia driving at high speed on the race track, wearing the new state-of-the-art Pirelli rubber. It shows how the teams that developed it worked side by side, designed the tire in 3D, tested it on the simulator for virtual driving sessions, analyzed every digital kilometer, and then fitted the tire to the car.

What is special about the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS

Pirelli has been the sole tire supplier in Formula 1 since 2011. It is thus obvious that they do have the expertise to put a motor racing-inspired tire in street-legal cars. Their all-new P Zero Trofeo RS follows the concept of the Trofeo R, but the two products are positioned differently in the market. The R is used as a spare part to increase the car's performance on the racetrack. Meanwhile, the RS is designed as original equipment, as manufacturers can fit such tires to their cars straight from the assembly line.

Pirelli put over 100 years of experience in road driving and motor racing in the new P Zero Trofeo RS. The engineers focused on safety in wet surface conditions, but also on the necessary grip for amateur track driving.

Customizable and combing different thread compounds from the Pirelli Prestige catalog, it checks the boxes for Pagani. It is designed to provide high performance similar to that supplied by the P Zero Corsa, yet offering better balance and getting the driver to feel the experience at a whole new level.
