The most powerful engine in the Astra GTC range short of going all out and buying the OPC/VXR is no longer the 1.6-liter Turbo petrol.
That’s because starting with the new look Astra range (facelift) which has just been launched, the coupe will be available with the 2.0-liter BiTurbo diesel engine first introduced on the Insignia. That means you get 195 horsepower (PS) and a maximum torque output of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).

The engine is actually also available on the Astra five-door, the Sports Tourer and the GTC in the rest of Europe, but for now the best we have in terms of performance figures comes from the British Isles, where the GTC BiTurbo reaches 60 mph in 7.8 seconds and tops out at 139 miles per hour (224 km/h).

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
