One month ago to the day, a rumor surfaced suggesting Opel would move production of the Mokka crossover from South Korea, where it's made alongside the Chevrolet Trax. Demand for the "German" version of the car has been huge with well over 100,000 orders received already.
As a result, production of the Mokka will be moved from Korea to Spain in the second half of 2014. The crossovers will be made at Opel Espana's plant in Zaragoza, as a result of GM investing $80 million (€62.3 million) in the plant.

The move will help conserve 5,800 jobs at Opel’s Spanish plant. “The decision for Zaragoza follows our company's strategy of building vehicles where we sell them. The enormous demand for the Mokka underlines the attractiveness of our vehicles, adds momentum to our product offensive and secures jobs in Europe,” said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.
