For any travel-loving single or couple who decides to downsize and embrace a lifestyle of exploration and self-discovery, owning a tiny home on wheels with oversized windows that offer them a front-row seat to stunning views is a dream come true. The Olaf tiny house from Nomad Homes is the kind of mobile abode that helps residents adopt a simpler way of life while fully immersing in the surrounding nature.
Nomadic Homes is a relatively new player in the European tiny house market and only has a couple of models in its lineup. However, they are an experienced team with extensive expertise in the traditional housing sector. They now focus only on tiny homes and aim to provide customers with simplified, high-quality mobile dwellings that can help them fulfill the dream of living their life like a never-ending adventure.

Just like the Rocco model from the Romanian builder, the Olaf was named after one of the company's pet dogs and is defined by simplicity and minimalism. It measures 24 feet (7.2 meters) in length and 8 feet (2.4 meters) in width, a popular size that provides the perfect balance between mobility and spaciousness.

Best suited for a couple's dreamy slow travel lifestyle, it is designed to enable owners to move to a new location in the middle of nature whenever they feel like it, but it can also be placed long-term in a single location, which makes it perfect as a vacation rental or second home.

With its understated elegance, functional design, and well-thought-out layout, this mobile home is compact enough to be easily towed around by most pickups yet large enough to pack all the necessary amenities for a comfortable life on the road.

Its 194-square-foot (18-square-meter) floorplan highlights the designers' desire to go back to basics. It's an open-plan living space with no partition between the living area, the kitchen, and the bedroom. The bathroom is the only room separated from the rest of the house by means of a door.

The company builds its homes with year-round living in mind. As such, durability is key and is achieved through the use of spruce glulam beams for the structure, mineral wool insulation for the walls, and EPS insulation for the floors. The all-black modern exterior of the Olaf unit is finished in a mix of black metal sheets and timber siding, which, combined with the extensive glazing throughout, offers it a particularly sleek appearance.

Showcasing an efficient use of space, the interior is characterized by clean lines, simplicity, and functionality. Impressively luminous due to the large glass entrance door and the huge windows, it features luxury vinyl tile floorings and poplar plywood panels on the walls and ceilings. The choice of materials is meant to make the house pass the test of time while also keeping it affordable. Poplar plywood is one of the most versatile materials and can be used for both interior finishes and furniture, creating a warm, pleasant atmosphere.

The most distinctive feature of the Olaf design is its cohesive layout. There is a seamless transition between spaces throughout, with the kitchen flowing into the lounge and the bedroom. Moreover, the space designated as a living room and the bedroom seem to converge, as the L-shaped built-in sofa is basically adjoined to the bed platform, which occupies the far end of the house.

Surrounded by massive windows on both sides, the raised bed comfortably accommodates two people and offers them fantastic views of the outside landscape. Some might find it inconvenient that the sleeping space is not a separate room in this home, but since this is a design aimed at singles and couples, the lack of compartmentalization should not be an issue.

The kitchen is minimalist yet perfectly functional. With cabinets made of the same poplar plywood material as the rest of the furniture, it is a perfect match to the overall design with a creamy color palette and clean lines.

Though it doesn't pack residential-size appliances, the kitchen is fully functional, with an electric two-hob countertop, an under-counter fridge, and a large sink. There is enough counter space for meal prep and plenty of storage space for equipping the kitchen with additional portable appliances.

Since the furniture inside this tiny house blends in so well with the walls and ceilings, there is this illusion of a wider space and great openness.

The bathroom is surprisingly modern, with a full-size glass shower featuring a mirror wall that creates depth, a wall-mounted toilet, and a minimalist vanity with a ceramic sink and large mirror.

For those who want to use the Olaf tiny home as a stationary dwelling, Nomad Homes offers the option to attach a wooden deck and thus extend the living space to the outside. With the large glass door open, there would be a seamless flow between the inside and the outside, which is a coveted perk in tiny home living.

The Olaf tiny house starts at just 54,000 EUR (about US $59,150 at current exchange rates). Blending affordability with comfort and functionality, this compact mobile home is the right choice for people who want to downsize, adopt a minimalist life, and focus on experiences and a deeper connection with nature.
