Most people who move into tiny houses are driven by the desire to live a life full of purpose and intention. Many have discovered they can achieve that by prioritizing what really matters, ridding themselves of material possessions, and adopting a simpler way of life.
While the tiny house world has evolved significantly over the last few years, with luxurious and sophisticated designs now dominating a part of the market, those who really want more freedom, environmental sustainability, and a simpler lifestyle are still drawn toward simple models with traditional layouts and no-frills interiors.

Simplicity and minimalism are the best words to describe the Rocco tiny house designed by Nomadic Homes, a Romania-based company whose declared mission is to create simplified, high-quality tiny homes on wheels for customers throughout Europe.

The team has extensive experience in the traditional construction sector, having previously worked on conventional family homes, large apartment complexes, and hotels. They have recently shifted to tiny houses, and for now, they only have two models in their portfolio, both designed with a focus on functional design and well-thought-out layouts for contemporary nomads and families.

The Rocco tiny home on wheels, named after one of the company's dogs, is 24 feet (7.2 meters) long and 8 feet (2.4 meters) wide, offering a total of 248 square feet (23 square meters) of livable space. Its simple floorplan is meant to adapt to any need and lifestyle, comprising a commodious open-plan living and cooking area, a separate bathroom, and a loft bedroom.

This ready-to-move-in compact dwelling is meant for year-round living, so the designers made sure to build it tough with spruce glulam beams for the structure, mineral wool insulation for the walls, and EPS insulation for the floors, increasing weather resistance. The contemporary exterior marries two cladding materials - black metal sheets and timber - uplifting the overall look and adding instant curb appeal.

Nomad Homes offers the option to add a wooden deck in front of the house, further enhancing its appeal. A deck is a highly coveted feature among tiny homeowners looking to stay in one place for longer periods of time because it's a great way to expand the living area with a stunning outdoor space. Thanks to the double glass entrance door and large opening windows from the kitchen, there is a seamless indoor/outdoor flow, which is a must for tiny home living.

The interior, meanwhile, showcases a creative, very efficient use of space, which is demonstrated by the straightforward floor plan and the incorporation of oversized windows throughout. Designed based on the same principles of simplicity and functionality, the interior boasts luxury vinyl tile floorings and poplar plywood walls and ceilings. Poplar plywood is a common choice for tiny home designs due to its affordability, versatility, pleasant light color, and thickness.

The entire interior is a bright, open space, but the area that gets the most light is the living room, thanks to large windows on all sides. Most tiny home designers leave the lounge area empty for the future owners to decorate as they see fit, but Nomad Homes decided to fit it with a built-in window seat surrounded by wall cabinets, enhancing the functionality of the living room. There is also a coffee table and enough space left to add more seating options, like chairs, poufs, or even a larger ottoman.

All the furniture inside Rocco is made of plywood, which works great to fulfill the philosophy of minimalism. With its simple form and light color, plywood furniture brings peace and harmony to the interior of this house, making it feel warm and inviting. Not to mention, the material is strong, stable, cost-effective, and can be integrated in many styles.

The fully-furnished kitchen occupies the center of the house and comes accoutered with modern appliances ranging from an electric oven and a four-burner cooktop to a range hood, a big sink, and an under-counter fridge. Besides the base cabinets, there are also two upper cabinets, adding extra storage space for all your kitchen essentials. The black countertops add a bit of contrast to the kitchen aesthetic and offer plenty of meal prep space.

A sturdy-looking storage-integrated staircase leads up to the loft bedroom, where you will find a cozy haven with a queen-size bed, a protection wall that doubles as a headboard, and reading lamps. But the standout feature of the sleeping space is the large skylight above the bed that lets in plenty of sunlight and allows residents to stargaze at night.

This minimalist tiny home also has a functional bathroom with all the basic facilities included, despite its compactness. It includes a small sink, a shower, and a toilet.

Small yet mighty, the Rocco tiny home can easily attract attention with its clean, minimalist look. It is bright and uncluttered, which creates the impression of more space. However, this home on wheels looks quite comfortable for a couple or small family and is welcoming in a traditional way without neglecting modern amenities.

Though it is designed for permanent living, the model is flexible enough to be used as a vacation rental or a second home as well. Perhaps the most appealing thing about it is the price, as the Rocco tiny is available for purchase for just $64,700.
