Just recently, Ram Trucks opened another chapter in the all-out full-size light-duty American truck wars by introducing the refreshed Ram 1500 lineup with some mild changes on the outside and some pretty hefty upgrades inside and under the skin.
The base Ram 1500 remains the (seemingly) eternal 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with an eTorque mild hybrid system, and the exterior design modifications are pretty subtle, indeed. However, the cockpit now has a fully digital instrument cluster, a larger central touchscreen, a digital rearview mirror, HUD, and also the "segment-exclusive" passenger screen, among many other updates.

There's also a new Tungsten flagship trim that will take the fight to GMC's Denali and Toyota's Capstone, along with an available adjustable four-corner air suspension. More importantly, Ram waves goodbye to the Hemi V8s and welcomes the new 3.0-liter Hurricane SST (straight-six turbo) family with 420 or 540 horsepower on tap. That's a bit or a lot more (for the H/O) than what the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 used to offer, but also nowhere near the level of the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 used for the 702-hp TRX.

However, if you want the potential jack of all trades, master of everything (rather than of none), late during 2024 or early 2025, the company will also have the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger on sale. That model is pretty unique, indeed, as it shares characteristics with both the gas-powered 1500 and the all-electric 1500 REV. More precisely, the Ramcharger has two electric drive modules front and back, eAWD, plug-in capabilities at up to 145 kW to recharge the 92-kWh battery pack, and also a 3.6-liter V6 plus a generator to refill the energy levels on the go.

With that seemingly perfect setup to combat range anxiety, the automaker targets up to 690 miles on a charge plus a full tank of gas. That's pretty impressive, right? Additionally, many Mopar fans might remember this was not the first time a Chrysler subsidiary used the Ramcharger nameplate. Between 1974 and 1993, Dodge built the Ramcharger as its two-door full-size SUV rival of the Ford Bronco and Chevrolet K5 Blazer. As such, maybe not all Mopar enthusiasts will appreciate its transformation into a full-size light-duty pickup truck with an independent rear suspension!

No worries, knowing the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, of course, someone morphed the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger into a cool-looking, shorter-wheelbase two or three-door off-road SUV! Jim, the virtual artist known as jlord8 on social media, paused his recent meddling of all things General Motors - especially Cadillac - and we got this Dodge heir instead. The changes are pretty simple and straightforward - and the resulting SUV looks both modern and vintage at the same time, somehow. Cool, right?
