They say it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day, but that was probably the last thing on the mind of this newlywed couple from Bogota, New Jersey. It’s not goof luck if it pours and there’s a flash flood.
Bride and groom were left stranded in their wedding car, as a flash flood came. New Jersey Police dispatched a Hummer H1 to help them out and get them to solid ground, where they could continue the party.

Of all the things that can ruin a bride’s wedding day, this is probably one of the worst. Which is why it’s lucky for this particular bride that the police acted quickly and saved her, her new husband and their wedding party from their flooded limo.

Video of the rescue was posted by a police department staffer on Facebook, where it earned warm praise and lots of likes. After all, it’s nice to know you can rely on the cops to save your wedding day, if need be.

“Unfortunately due to the quickly rising flood waters, this bride, her new husband and wedding party friends, got a rough start on things,” the caption to the video reads. You can see the footage at the bottom of the page.

“The fortunate thing, is we were able to help them through their first rough patch. Obviously their day has not gone as planned, so let’s congratulate them on their wedding and give them best wishes for a lifetime of love and adventure, starting now,” the caption further says.

New Jersey was hit by heavy rain over the weekend, and this is perhaps the lightest incident to occur due to flash floods. In Little Falls, the entire parking lot of a Jeep dealership was washed away by a swollen river, with the vehicles ending up piled up at an overpass.
