Here’s a sight you don’t get to see every day: brand new cars floating down the river by the dozen.
It happened this weekend, when motorists stranded on an overpass in New Jersey caught the exact moment a flash flood came, washing away an entire parking lot worth of Jeeps from a local dealership.

When we say they “caught” it, we mean they caught it on camera. The video was then posted to social media, and is available at the bottom of the page.

The incident occurred in Little Falls, which is about 20 miles west of New York City. The stranded motorists were on an overpass on Route 46, with the Peckman River flowing underneath them.

As the flood came, all the cars in the parking lot of the local dealership were washed away by the swollen river. You can see they still have the stickers with the price in the windshield. They floated slowly towards the overpass, where they piled up because there wasn’t enough space left for any to fit through.

To paraphrase one of the onlookers, that’s so much money right there being washed away. Literally.

For the time being, no estimates on the damage caused by the floods have been made public.

Over the weekend, the New York office of the National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for that time and for that region. It also noted that a certain quantity of rainwater could cause floods that could carry a small car. As the video shows, the amount that fell carried even bigger vehicles.

“Showers & thunderstorms producing heavy rain will move across the area causing urban and small stream flooding,” the NWS also said. “Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area.”

Before you watch the video of the incident, please be advised that it contains some strong language that may offend.
