Nissan Juke Launched in Japan

Japanese manufacturer Nissan announced yesterday the Japanese market launch of what it calls "a new genre of vehicles," the Juke compact sports crossover. Nissan hope to sell some 1,300 units of this niche vehicle every month. In Japan, prices start at 1,690,500 yen ($18,551) and go all the way to 1,790,250 yen ($19,646), consumption tax included.

The highlight of the Juke is the first mass produced dual injector 1.5l HR15DE engine. The unit develops 114 ps at 6,000 rpm, with max torque rated at 150Nm and is paired to a new-generation Xtronic CVT transmission.

Additionally, Nissan offer is Japan a 1.6l MR16DDT turbocharged, in either 2WD and 4WD configurations. According to the carmaker, the car achieves SU-LEV certification by emitting 75 percent fewer exhaust emissions than 2005 standards.

Features of the Nissan Juke include auto light system, ABS, EBD, SRS airbags, RearView Monitor Carwings Navigation System (Digital Internal HHD) with advanced mapping update system, fastest route calculation function, built-in digital tuner with automatic signal tuning (12 SEG/ 1SEG) and an iPod compatible entertainment system.
