Japanese manufacturer Nissan released this week the first images showing the refreshed version of the high-performance GT-R model, set to be launched onto the market sometime this fall. The main changes brought to the model are visual, but sources also point to a souped up engine as well.
Visually, the new GT-R will set itself apart from the current model with the addition of LED lights, integrated into the front bumper. At the rear, the model will receive a bigger air diffuser which now boasts an additional brake light. Also, a new set of wheels will be offered to go, to give the car both a cleaner look and better grip.
Although no official information about mechanical tweaks have been released, expect to see a heftier version of the 3.8l twin turbo V6 engine being offered. Sources cited by autoblog.it point to a unit which will develop a bit over 500 hp and 600 Nm of torque, thanks to the extra 20 or 30 hp troop added.
According to icars.sg, the new GT-R will continue to be offered in several versions, with the base one to remain the Pure Edition. The entry level price for the upgraded GT-R is said to be $103,000 (EUR81,480), while the top of the range Premium Edition will be sold for $112,000 (EUR88,600).
Both prices will be well above the current ones, hinting to the fact that the engine tweaks will be offered as well. More details on the facelifted GT-R are expected to surface in the following weeks, so stay tuned for updates.
