Nissan recently took to the World Wide Web to release a teaser for an upcoming machine. The model in question is a crossover/SUV, albeit a hot one bearing Nismo's signature, and it looks just like the more agile Ariya that has been in the making for some time.
The model in question will debut on January 12 at 10:00 AM JST (1:00 AM GMT / 8:00 PM EST), just in time for the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, which will open its gates this Friday and close them on Sunday. Nissan will stream the live unveiling on its social media channels some 36 hours from now, and you can watch it here.

So, what do we know about the Nissan Ariya Nismo? It will feature a sportier appearance, for one. Prototypes caught in the open last fall revealed a trick front bumper with a new apron attached to it, a fresh rear bumper and diffuser, and a second spoiler out back. The wheels will also be part of the novelties, and it's said to be available in multiple exterior hues.

The cockpit hasn't opened up to the camera, but it likely features a pair of bucket seats for the person riding shotgun and the driver. The headliner is expected to be black, and we can also look for a sportier steering wheel, with the Japanese auto marque likely rounding things off with the Nismo logos and maybe some exclusive upholstery, contrast stitching, and fresh trim.

Certain outlets speak of a revised chassis setup to help it corner faster. Improved braking should also be on deck, and for a more immersive driving experience, Nissan is said to have given it a unique sound effect inspired by Formula E racers.

We cannot tell you yet if the Ariya Nismo will get more power or not. The current range-topper has 389 horsepower (395 ps/290 kW) and 442 lb-ft (599 Nm) of torque available via the right pedal, boasting electric all-wheel drive. Both battery options could be available for it, with the lesser one featuring a 63 kWh unit and the 87 kWh being available, too.

Even though it doesn't necessarily need a power boost, as the regular Ariya is already quick enough for daily commutes by doing the 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in 4.8 seconds, such an upgrade would be a welcomed addition that would draw a clear line between the regular versions and the Nismo. The sporty model will top the family in terms of pricing.

Speaking of the MSRP, the current top-of-the-line Platinum+ trim level kicks off at $60,190, so we expect the Ariya Nismo to be much more expensive when it arrives in our market, likely for the 2024 model year.
