New Lamborghini Revuelto Sold Out Well Into 2025, 2+2 Electric GT Confirmed for 2028 Debut

Firm orders for the Revuelto cover in excess of two years of production, says Volkswagen Group-owned Automobili Lamborghini. That's well into 2025, which is astonishing when you think about it.
Let's try estimating how many will be produced over two years with a bit of simple math. The Murcielago-replacing Aventador was assembled in Sant'Agata Bolognese in the period between February 2011 and September 2022. That's a little over 11.5 years, during which 11,465 were finished. If we round things off nicely, that's approximately 1,000 flagships per year.

Considering the starting price of the Revuelto, which is nearly $600,000 in the United States market, 2,000-something orders is all the more impressive. On the other hand, Lamborghini has to make sure that it has all the parts required to sustain this rather ambitious goal. Big kahuna Winkelmann is fully aware the Revuelto coupe will sell in large numbers in the first couple of years of production, after which the hype moves to the spider and a yet-to-be-detailed performance version.

Regarding the parts required for the Revuelto, bear in mind that it's way more complex than its predecessor. From the high-voltage battery to the three electric motors and the chips needed for all of the car's systems, the supply chain sure needs to run like clockwork.

Beyond the supply chain, Lamborghini has prepared on the production side with something called Manifattura 4.0. The pompously named production system is all about techy additions to the Sant'Agata Bolognese complex, which has been expanded by 172,000 square meters (1,851,393 square feet).

Lamborghini further waxes lyrical about cobots, namely collaborative robots designed for repetitive actions like windshield assembly. Said cobots are used on the powertrain, assembly, and upholstery lines. Automated guided vehicles also need to be mentioned, for they're programmed to transport components and materials to the production lines of the Revuelto.

Even the carbon-fiber monofuselage chassis combines the human element with automated processes. Published by the House of Sant'Agata Bolognese today, the press release attached below also features a small preview of what's to come by decade's end. Lamborghini finally confirmed that its first-ever production electric vehicle is a 2+2 grand tourer, a car best described as the Espada's heir apparent.

The zero-emission model is due to premiere in 2028. Prior to that, Lamborghini's current lineup will be hybridized by 2024. Emphasis on by 2024, which probably means that the Huracan's long-awaited successor may be revealed by the end of 2023. On the other hand, the Huracan's remaining production run is sold out into 2024. How deep into 2024, we don't know. However, series production of the yet-unnamed replacement is due to start in the latter part of 2024.

As opposed to the Revuelto, which features an entirely new naturally-aspirated V12 with 6.5 liters to its name, the Baby Lambo is going twin-turbo V8. Already spied making faint V8 noises, the force-fed supercar draws many design influences from big brother Revuelto.
