Shelby American is working on something that is supposed to be a secret until later… today. Taking a wild guess, we would go as far as saying it should be a Ford Mustang Super Snake. A supercharger, aggressive styling, and improved aerodynamics are part of the plan.
If the previous Shelby Mustang Super Snake is anything to go by, we should expect more than 800 horsepower. Back in 2013, it came with 850, but it settled for 750 in 2015.
In 2017, Shelby American rolled out a Super Snake with the 750+ Option, a package that included a supercharger (Whipple or Kennel), extra cooling solutions, and Ford Performance half shafts, among others.
Every time they rolled out a Mustang Super Snake, they wowed the crowd. So we shouldn't expect anything less this time.
The firm has been teasing its upcoming creation, based on the S650 Mustang, revealing very daring aerodynamic elements such as a carbon fiber rear wing on the tailgate, bringing all the drama of the upgraded 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which will most likely get a supercharger for better performance and a soundtrack to match.

The stock 5.0-liter V8 pumps out 500 horsepower (493 metric horsepower) and 418 pound-feet (518 Newton meters) of torque, which are enough for a run from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 4.2 seconds. Shelby American should come up with better figures than what the standard Mustang offers.
One thing is for sure, though. The whole design of the car will turn more aggressive. Brand-new front air intakes, new black surroundings for the headlights, a redesigned front grille, a massive front splitter with large struts, and hood pins should be on the menu.
At the opposite end, under that rear wing, there should be a restyled rear bumper and a new air diffuser.
Shelby American has also designed new wheels in a bronze finish for their take on the latest-generation Mustang, along with new brake calipers.
The house could not stay out of the cabin of the iconic pony car, which is celebrating 60 years since it first rolled off the production line. The teaser reveals a white shift know with a carbon fiber shroud, while the seats seem to be upholstered in leather and Alcantara.
If we are, indeed, dealing with a Mustang Super Snake or Shelby American is just tricking us into believing it is that and is preparing some other surprise, we will find out later today, April 18. Shelby American will unveil its latest creation at a Barrett-Jackson auction.
