New Ford Focus Reaches the UK

The car, which will become a very important piece in the puzzle that still is Ford's future, the Focus, is getting ready to meet its British customers for the first time. The first model will go on display at Lakeside next week, two weeks before the American manufacturer starts selling the model in the country.

The model to go on display prior to the launch is a five-door, candy yellow-colored 1.6 diesel Titanium model. Ford hopes the car would attract a big chunk of the 7,500 people who will visit Lakeside on each of the four days the Focus will be on display.

As for the cars to be sold, Ford says they are already on their way to British dealers. 2,500 units have already been produced and shipped from the Ford plant in Saarlouis, Germany, with the planned roll-out soon to reach 1,450 cars shipped per day.

"UK motorists are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Ford Focus, replacing the model which was top selling car for 10 years,” said Jon Wellsman, Ford Britain sales director.

“Essex is the Ford brand's spiritual home, so putting our newest car on display to Lakeside shoppers will please our local Ford fans."

In the UK, the new Focus will sell starting from GBP15,995 and will be offered in the following versions: 1.6l
Duratorq TDCi with Auto-Start-Stop, 2.0l Duratorq TDCi, 1.6l Ford EcoBoost with Auto-Start-Stop and 1.6l Duratec Ti-VCT.

The equipment levels for the new Focus are extensive, with all models to be fitted as standard with automated parallel parking, lane keeping aid and traffic sign recognition.
