Ford Explorer Ad Campaign for the Grammy Awards

Having launched last year the reinvented SUV, as they call it, the Americans from Ford are now getting ready to sell in its first full year of life; and to do that, they need a little exposure. The venue of choice for the new Explorer ads to hit the airwaves are the Grammy awards, which take place this weekend.

Ford will debut three Explorer ads during the event. One of them will feature hip-hop artist Nelly, who will try to sell the new Sony Audio system featured into the Explorer for Ford. The other two, which will also rely on music to relay the message, will advertise the SUV itself.

“We are always looking for relevant opportunities to get our messaging out there, and this really came together in an interesting and timely way for the Grammy’s,”
said Eric Peterson, Explorer communications manager. “The Grammy’s are about music and personalities, and these ads fit in that setting.”

The new Explorer, probably the most exciting in years, is equipped with either a 3.5l V6 or a 2.0l four cylinder EcoBoost engine. The V6 develops 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque, while the EcoBoost packs up to 237 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque. Both units can be paired to a six-speed transmission or a SelectShift Automatic.

“The Grammy's provide an opportunity to reach a broad audience with our message, and we want to make sure everyone knows about the new, totally reinvented Explorer,
” said Matt VanDyke, Ford’s director of US Marketing.
