Ford’s newest baby hot-hatch is kindly welcomed in the UK, as 600 orders were taken before the car’s official arrival scheduled for late March this year.
The Fiesta ST success may come from it’s low price, as an entry level three-door version starts at £16,995 ($24,600 without taxes). This makes the car £2000 (€2320 and a cheeseburger) cheaper than rival models like Peugeot 208 GTi and Vauxhall Corsa VXR.
The standard Ford Fiesta ST comes with a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine producing 182 PS, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Options include Unique 17” ST alloy wheels, Unique ST design full bodykit, Recaro front seats, DAB audio with SYNC and Emergency Assistance, chrome dual exhaust pipe, lower suspension and other.
The automaker is expecting to sell at least hot 5000 Fiestas in the United Kingdom per year, representing almost half of the European production for the model.
