As you would expect from a Land Rover, the new Discovery Sport compact SUV that they are developing will be good both on asphalt and off it. These natural capabilities have been honed by test engineers over the course of two years in a variety of conditions to ensure the model stands up to anything customers will throw at it.
Ahead of the 2015 market debut, Land Rover has released this short but interesting clip that shows the Discovery Sport in various stages of its development. The first shorts are taken on a frozen lake in northern Sweden, which is coincidently the first place we saw the SUV at the start of the arctic testing season.

After that, the SUV took on the deserts near Land Rover's Middle East test center in the United Arab Emirates and conquered the man-made swamp in Gaydon, the true test of any 4x4 system. And as most of you who follow our spyshots section know, the Sport is currently undergoing high speed testing at the Nurburgring.

Built on a brand new aluminum platform, the Discovery Sport will be motivated by an all-new generation of efficient four-cylinder engines developed with Jaguar. There might also be a performance version powered by either a 3-liter supercharged V6 or the 285 hp 2-liter turbo in the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic version.

When it goes on sale in Britain in 2015, it will be offered as standard with seven seats in a 5+2 configuration and be manufactured at the Halewood factory, located near Liverpool.
