Despite being the most design-focused French car brand, Citroen doesn't have a posh SUV. While almost half of MINI's sales are Countrymen, it's pretty clear that the DS range could benefit from a jacked up model with a svelte roofline, a pretty face and a bit of "Creative Technologie".
That car finally arrived this weekend at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show, Asia's largest automotive event. It's called the DS Wild Rubis and is a concept that should become production reality in a few years.

We're already familiar with this car, since it was leaked then shown in detail weeks before the Chinese venue, but we're pretty sure everybody will want to hear about the powertrain this thing has got!

Long story short, it's a full-on hybrid plug-in vehicle. Total power output is rated at 300 PS from a 1.6-liter THP turbo petrol engine producing 230 PS and an electric motor that adds 70 PS.

The electric motor is powered by lithium-ion batteries that can be recharged from a domestic socket. Electric-only range is rated at 50km (31miles), which should be enough for the daily drive. The Wild Rubis is also very ecological, producing just 43 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

This might sound like a fanciful creation that will never exit the conceptual realm, but Citroen already offers a similar setup on the Citroen DS5 HYbrid4.

As far as dimensions are concerned, the The DS Wild Rubis is larger than it looks, measuring 4.7 meters in length, 1.95 meters in width and 1.59 meters in height. This makes it about the same size as a C-Cross or Peugeot 4007, but noticeably shorter to make it look more sporty.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
