The C5 X is already a popular product, and Citroen hopes to cash in more on its success by introducing a new special version. Dubbed the Citroen C5 X Hypnos, it builds on the range-topping flavor of the car and features plug-in hybrid power. As for the suffix, it is a reference to the Greek god of sleep, though you won't be doing any sleeping in it, as you'll still have to focus on the road ahead.
Described as "a grand tourer that invites you to travel with elegance and absolute comfort," the Citroen C5 X Hypnos features an exclusive color on the outside, named the Eclipse Blue, with a few Infrared Red graphic elements. For the wheels, the Stellantis-owned brand chose the 19-inch AeroX set in Onyx Black with a diamond effect. And if you don't favor the Eclipse Blue, then you can also order it in Platinum Gray.

Opening the door reveals the fresh perforated leather upholstery in a light hue. The car also gets leather on the armrests, Alcantara on the upper parts of the seats and the headrests, topstitching, and an Infrared label that further highlights its special nature. Citroen says the central armrest, the sides of the center console, and parts of the door cards sport a plastic-coated fabric described as being "pleasant to the touch" with herringbone pattern topstitching. The Karuun light wood-effect decorative touches on the dashboard and door cards, the laser-engraved glossy black accents on the center console, and the special floor mats complete the design.

As for some of the onboard gear, it includes stuff such as the glass sunroof that allows more natural light to bathe the cabin, ventilated and heated front seats with electric adjustment and massaging function, a premium sound system, and others. Citroen's C5 X Hypnos also includes the brand's Advanced Comfort active suspension as standard, and the company speaks about "a soothing experience reinforced by sound insulation," which contributes to "the feeling of being entirely cocooned." Mind you, despite these big words, you certainly shouldn't mistake it for a Rolls-Royce.

Power comes from a plug-in hybrid assembly that mixes a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor. The total output is rated at 222 hp (225 ps/165 kW), transferred to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 12.4 kWh battery pack gives it a range of 31 miles (50 km) on zero emissions. Citroen has already opened the order books for the C5 X Hypnos in Europe. In its home market of France, the vehicle is listed on the official website with a starting price of €56,650 (equaling $61,135). The first customer deliveries of the car will kick off early next year, the automaker reveals.
