We recently got our hands on a couple of short videos showing a bit of turbocharged, 2.5-liter fun on the roads of the principality. But before you scroll down to the two videos below, let’s remind ourselves what makes the RS3 Sportback so interesting.
To make this performance machine, Audi gave the A3 a heart transplant in the form of the TT RS’s 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine. This means that the driver has a total of 340 horsepower he can send to the road via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission with two auto and one manual modes, and the Ingolstadt firm's quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
All that technical talk boils down to a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 4.6 seconds and an electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Audi also adds that the RS3 returns an average fuel consumption of 9.1 liters per 100 km (25.9 mpg) and emits 212 grams of CO2 per km.
The car isn’t just about accelerating fast, as the RS3 comes with internally ventilated disks measuring 370 millimeters (14.57 inches) in diameter at the front and 310 millimeters (12.20 inches) at the rear.
If you want this kind of performance from a five-door hatchback you’d better start saving, as the RS3 costs €49,900 in Germany (over US$70,000).
