At the moment, Europe has the widest variety of 4 Series models in the world. In Germany, for example, you can have your pick out of 10 different variations, 6 using petrol engines and 4 using diesels.
That’s a striking difference compared to the variety you get in the US, where you get only 4 choices, 2 with xDrive and 2 without. However, things are bound to get even more diverse, according to Bimmertoday.de.
Quoting a source close to BMW, they claim there will be 2 more diesel options on the table pretty soon: the 425d and 430d xDrive. At the moment, the 430d version is available but without xDrive whilst the 425d isn’t available in any version.
As for the latter, it will most likely use the same engine as on the 525d model, a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel making 218 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission will be either a manual 6-speed or an automatic 8-speed from ZF.
