In a recent interview for Autocar at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, MINI Brand boss and BMW Board Member, Peter Schwarzenbauer said he believes that all MINIs should be designed in the UK.
At the moment, all the cars built and sold under the MINI moniker are designed in Munich but a studio in the UK would be a good idea, according to Mr. Schwarzenbauer: “We have to emphasise the British thing a bit more.” Couldn’t agree more!

You see, in my opinion, MINIs should be drastically different from BMWs. If that’s impossible from a technical standpoint, stylistically it could be the solution, at least for short term. Using British designers, working in Britain, could be a solution, making the cars special and different from anything else on the market.

It’s a known fact that MINI is having a hard time battling with other compacts in its segment but how many of them can actually claim the style and class of a British vehicle? That’s right, none of them! If you want my opinion, this is the thing that could change the face of the small company.
