Spyhots: 2015 MINI John Cooper Works at the Arctic Circle

Even though the British company brought the MINI John Cooper Works Concept at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and we now know how the car will look like, the engineers are still hard at work testing the upcoming car in the harshest weather.

The upcoming most powerful model in the range was just caught by out spy photographers somewhere around the Arctic Circle performing tests in the cold winter weather, to make sure not even the lower temperatures won’t stop it from running.

Notable in these spyshots are the wheels that seem to be an involution of the ones showcased on the Concept at Detroit. Somehow they turned ugly but rest assured, they might still be quite far away from the production version design.

As for the engine, little is known but I’m not expecting any huge surprises. Most likely somewhere around 220 HP and over 300 Nm of torque coming out of a 2-liter 4-pot turbocharged engine mated to a manual or automatic 6-speed gearbox. Expect the production version to be unveiled at Geneva in March.
