The British automaker continues to spread its wings, and now the Land Down Under has access to the U25 third-generation Countryman subcompact crossover SUV – which marks a significant departure from the predecessors regarding styling.
It was September 1 when MINI officially announced the impending rollout of the all-new Countryman alongside the classic Cooper – and the CUV was even more significant than before, a tad sleeker, even more minimalist, and also greener. Arriving beside the ICE-powered versions, the Countryman E tops 287 miles of range.
Of course, MINI is taking things gradually and worldwide. In November, we recently met the 2025 Countryman John Cooper Works, and this flagship model will arrive at nationwide dealerships starting May 2024 with an MSRP of $46,900. But before that happens, the regular $39k (around $6k more expensive than the outgoing 2024MY) MINI Countryman was announced for the US market as the S ALL4 version.
Moving on, across the seas and oceans, MINI has used the year's final days to take advantage of the opportunity to introduce the all-new Countryman to another region. Australia now has "more room for adventure," according to MINI – and it's all thanks to the Countryman's local debut with the initial launch bringing out two gasoline-powered versions: Countryman C and S.
The new 'Charismatic Simplicity' design language underpins the MINI Countryman, and although it "retains the beloved MINI charm," it's also longer and taller while the classic round instrument cluster is now a 240-mm round OLED screen. Plus, there are additional customization options with new colors and trims, while more sustainable manufacturing methods lead to additional CO2 emissions reductions – there are even 100% leather-free and chrome-free materials.
For the local Australian market, the MINI Countryman is covered by a five-year, unlimited-mile factory warranty, and the new generation will debut in showrooms during the first quarter of next year with MSRPS starting from AUD49,990 – that is the equivalent of almost $33k for America. However, the quotation is for the base Countryman C Core, while the US market starts directly with the S ALL4.
Those who don't mind waiting a little bit will be glad to find out the Countryman family will expand with the John Cooper Works, E, and SE versions throughout 2024. "The MINI Countryman stands out in the compact SUV segment with its premium finish, sporty flair, and signature MINI handling," said Matt Schmidt, MINI Australia and New Zealand General Manager.
"Now, with the new generation model, we are confident the MINI Countryman will offer even more appeal thanks to its innovative technology, including a host of new driver assistant technologies, markedly increased versatility, and an array of customizable options for our customers to choose from. It also integrates a host of thoughtful measures that showcase our brand's dedication to sustainability and C02 emissions reduction," he added.
