New 2024 MINI Cooper SE JCW Is Both Fake and Real at the Same Time

In fact, it has the same specs as the regular one, meaning a single electric motor that generates 243 pound-feet (330 Nm) of torque and 215 horsepower (218 ps/160 kW). MINI says the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) takes 6.7 seconds. Yep, it is the same specification as the non-JCW MINI Cooper SE.

The car packs a 54.2 kWh battery that gives it a 250-mile (402 km) range on the WLTP cycle. It can be charged at up to 95 kW, meaning that a 10 to 80 percent recharge takes less than 30 minutes. According to MINI, the battery is automatically prepared to the ideal temperature when navigation is activated, thus improving the charging times, especially in chilly conditions.

So, what's new, you ask? A visual makeover that could've come from a renowned tuner, yet instead, it was the work of the BMW Group-owned car brand. The hatchback looks all punchy thanks to the enhanced looks, which comprise a high-gloss black finish for the front grille surround and logo. The contrasting roof and side mirror caps in Chili Red contribute to the sporty appearance.

MINI hasn't drawn the line here, as they also gave it a checkered flag on the grille, John Cooper Works emblems, red graphics on the hood, and that’s about all. Well, that's about all when it comes to the exterior of the battery-electric hatchback with a sporty flair, as the automaker has also given it a few special touches in the cockpit.

Open the door, and you will see that the new 2024 MINI Cooper SE JCW features sporty front seats with more side bolstering wrapped in synthetic leather stitched together with red string. The door cards and dashboard feature a special black and red theme and a Go-Kart mode was integrated into the infotainment system that optimizes the throttle response, boosts the soundtrack, and changes the interior lighting to red.

Pricing will be announced in due course, and in addition to the SE flavor, the company has also introduced the Cooper E, which is a lesser alternative that's unavailable in the JCW spec. This one brings 181 hp (184 ps/135 kW) to the party and 214 pound-feet (290 Nm) of torque and is six-tenths of a second slower than the Cooper SE, with the sprint taking 7.3 seconds. Its 40.7 kWh battery pack enables a 145-mie (233 km) WLTP range, or 105 miles (169 km) less than the upper grade.
