MINI Turns Chilli Down Under

Trying to spice up the range of its models in Australia, British automaker MINI announced this week the introduction of the Chilli package for the Cooper, Cooper S and Cooper D Hatch, Cabrio and Clubman models on sale Down Under.

Available for AU$900, the package brings with it not necessarily more features (in fact, the package has remained pretty much unchanged as in previous years), but a significant reduction in price (MINI Australia says it has reduced the pricing of the package by over 75 percent). According to MINI Australia, the new price tag has been available ever since last month.

As usual, the package has been designed to match the various models in the MINI lineup. There are, however, some elements common to the entire range: alloy wheels, Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi System, sports seats, Climate Control and cloth/leather combination upholstery.

For the best-selling model, the Cooper S Hatch, the Chilli package brings Bi-Xenon headlights (alone priced on the market at AU$5,500), Bluetooth, USB audio interface, DSC, Cornering Brake Control, sport button and an onboard computer. With all the tweaks and upgrades, the MINI Cooper S is now priced at $41,600.

“Our customers demonstrate their appreciation of MINI’s vast customisation options made highly accessible through unbeatable pricing,” said David Woollcott, National MINI Manager.

“The MINI Cooper S Chilli now priced at AU$41,600 is without equal in terms of value and desirability. The Chilli designation fits the MINI brand perfectly. It is exciting and unique and adds a dash of spice to core models.”
