Every year, the MINI brand is included in a special design story with a charitable purpose, with a one-off MINI being created for the Life Ball. The proceeds from the vehicle’s sale go to projects that are aimed at fighting HIV/AIDS. This year, it is the turn of Dsquared2 to take center stage, as MINI is supporting Europe’s biggest AIDS charity event for the 11th time. Now, the carmaker is offering us a video that previews the creation.

For 2011, the special incarnation of a MINI vehicle is being created by Dean and Dan Cater, better known as the Canadian designer duo Dsquared2. The Canadian twins have come up with a special rugged creature that will please the carmaker’s fans. The vehicle is based on the Countryman, coming with a strong personality.

In April 2010 – freely based on the motto “Time to pack my… MINI Countryman” – they kitted out one of the brand-new models for the perfect weekend in the country, and they have long cherished a desire to design a MINI in their very own style,” stated the press release.

The 19th Life Ball is scheduled to take place in Vienna on May 21, with the event expected to attract a large number of international celebrities.

If Dsquared2 were a car, it would be rugged and robust, with a tough attitude. Our MINI Red Mudder is an accurate reflection of that. With the maple leaf on both doors and the Dsquared2 logo on the front shield and wheels, this is unmistakably our style,” Dean and Dan said.
