2014 Volkswagen Passat May Get Coupe and Convertible Versions

Volkswagen builds cars that offer many things, but most of the German carmaker’s range lacks boldness. However, it seems that this is about to change. The transformation might start from one of the least emotional vehicles to have ever worn the VW badge, the Passat.

The German carmaker is considering to offer sporty body types for the next generation Passat, which will hit the market in 2014, as Autobild writes. To be more precise, the Passat could get a coupe, as well as a convertible version.

However, there has been no official word on this yet, so we can’t get too excited just yet.

The models would be slotted below the Audi A5, but, being part of the Volkswagen Group, should offer a great variety of engines. This means that, if we do get the two cars, we'll be able to choose between a multitude of downsized petrol and diesel engines.

And this also has another meaning, one that has a great importance for tuning enthusiasts. As you know, the VW Group engines are like LEGO when it comes to aftermarket developments, which means that the tuning companies will have two new important toys to play with.

We’d really like to see the Passat become more lively - we’ve recently tested the current generation of the car, which managed to cater for many of our transportation needs very well, but wasn’t able to bring a smile on our face. You can read the review by following this link.
