It seems like Mercedes is on its way to introduce a new roadster that will be slotted below the SLK, with the automotive producer having big plans for its development.
According to Go Auto, the vehicle, which might use the SLA designation (this was used for a Mercedes concept introduced in the year 2000), is expected to hit the market as early as 2013.
As it will be slotted under the SLK, like we said, the vehicle is set to use the MFA platform, which means that we’ll get front-wheel-drive. Yes, we know and we agree, this doesn't sound good at all.
Under the hood, we’ll receive powerplant from the future A- and B-Klasse, which means that we’ll get to choose between a turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol unit and a 1.8-liter diesel. Both engines will be mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
