Exclusive: Daimler Source Confirms Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG for 2012

The Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse is a car that needs absolutely no presentation (really, we tested it just for the fun of it). However, we do have to talk about the rugged off-roader's future.{Ad}

We all know that the car will receive facelift next year, but various sources claimed that the 2012 G-Klasse will lose its AMG version. This made us incredibly sad, but before we went to cry in the corner of the office, we decided to speak to Daimler about this and we think you might want to know what we found out.

A Daimler source confirmed the fact that not only will there be a 2012 G55 AMG with a sweet V8 (we might have added the adjective), but the big off-roader will also get a V12 engine!

Unfortunately, our source wouldn't give us any details apart from the aforementioned ones. Earlier this year, there have been multiple reports indicating this, but we are happy that it is now confirmed.

The G-Klasse has never been placed in the same sentence with a V12, at least not by the factory. You see, the world has welcomed a G powered by such an engine, but only thanks to the Brabus aftermarket developer.

So, we expect the G-Klasse to use Mercedes' 6.0-liter biturbo V12 unit that delivers 612 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm).

We know, this sort of car doesn't make sense, but come to think of it, it doesn't have to, as this type of automobile is all about the feeling it offers to its master...
