Mercedes SLK Goes Down Under

The third generation of the Mercedes promisses to offer a mix that would appeal to any driver in the world: performance, efficiency and a posh look. Its predecessors offered interesting packages, but didn’t manage to involve the driver in the experience all that much and this is exactly what the new car wants to do. Now, SLK The Third has reached Australia, aiming to conquer motoring enthusiasts from this part of the world.

The complete pricing for the vehicle hasn’t been released yet, as Mercedes only offered the MLP, which doesn’t include on-road and dealer delivery costs.

Anyway, the SLK 200 BlueEFFICIENCY, which is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine, has a MLP of AU$82,9000, while SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY, which used a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 unit, comes with a MLP of AU$118,900.

The new SLK embodies the role of the trend-setter like no other car,” Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Cars said, describing the new SLK. “I am convinced that with its passionate design, its highquality interior and its modesty at the filling station it will continue to provide an enormous amount of fun on the road in future, too, consolidating its status as a cult roadster.

We’ve recently had our first contact with the SLK 350. It was a sunny summer day, the top came off and we set off in pursuit of the 0 to 100 km/h sprint. Then... actually, you can read all about it here.
