Mercedes-Benz 1,000th AMG Unit Sold

A new reason for celebration at the Mercedes-Benz and AMG headquarters, as the carmaker announced today that it had sold the 1,000th unit of the AMG range in 2010 in the Asia Pacific region, to a customer in Sydney, Australia.

The anniversary model is the first and only SLS AMG in the world to be painted in Designo magno Night Black, with red badging and paint highlights both inside and out. It is the same vehicle which stared at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show.

“Each Mercedes-Benz vehicle is special, but we wanted something truly unique and the “Blackbird” is not just the only one of its kind ever but it also gets the accolade of being the 1,000th AMG sold by us in 2010. It is a truly unique vehicle and the lucky new owner even has a special plaque on the car to signify it’s one off status,”
said Horst von Sanden, Mercedes Benz managing director.

Australia is proving to be quite a friendly market for AMG vehicles. The most successful model in the range is the C63 AMG, which sold 500 unit this year, followed by the E63 AMG, which reported a sales increase of 50 percent in the country.

“The performance of AMG in Australia Pacific is absolutely fantastic. We regard Australia as one of the most important and loyal AMG markets in the world and we congratulate the more than one thousand new AMG owner’s downunder for helping us achieve this milestone,” added Mario Spitzner, director Branding and Marketing AMG.
