Pagani C9 to Use Custom AMG Engine

Pagani is pretty busy these days, as the company is working to develop Zonda's successor, the C9. In addition to that, if you've been following our news section recently, you should be familiar with the multitude of one-off editions of the Zonda, vehicles that come with sky-high exclusivity and out of this world pricing.

Whereas we have already met all the special incarnations of the Zonda, the C9 model still remains a mastery. Pagani knows this and is trying to make the most out the situation to stimulate our interest for the future hypercar.

The Italian company has recently released a statement, offering us a little hint about the powerplant of the C9. Don't get too excited however, as Pagani isn't offering any details about the powerplant.

The company is only saying that the vehicle will be powered by an AMG V12 unit, one which is not based on the engine used by the SL65 Black Series, being specifically developed for the C9

"Due to recent articles posted in the press about the future Pagani C9, Pagani Automobili and Mercedes-AMG GmbH would like to make the following statement. The engine of the Pagani C9 is not a derivative of the AMG V12 engine developed for the SL65 Black Series, nor is the AMG V12 engine in the SL65 Black Series derived from the engine AMG is currently developing for the Pagani C9," the statement read.

"The cars are very different in their character and conception and the engine will reflect this in its technical characteristics and behavior. The engine in the Pagani C9 has been developed specifically for that application by Mercedes-AMG GmbH."

We'll stick with the previous report, which shows that the car will be hyperpowered by a 7 liter V12 unit delivering around 700 hp.
