Ever since the McLaren 720S showed up in official attire, the Woking animal has been acting like a headline magnet, sending our jaws to the floor thanks to its wicked aerodynamics or its stunning dynamic abilities. However, as with any supercar out there, the first accident is inevitable and it seems that the time has come to discuss such a matter.
Sure, we did talk about a 720S accident in July, but the Palm Beach happening we discussed back then was a light one. Alas, it seems that we are now dealing with the first serious crash of the brand new Macca.
To be more precise, the mid-engined machine went off the road in Knokke, Belgium. As you can see in the images above, the McLaren 720S ended up in the woods, so we can mention an unfortunate offroading incident.
The Instagram-delivered images below here don't allow us to take a good look at the mid-engined animal, so we can't be sure about the damage sustained by the car.
Hopefully, this isn't one of those cases of a machine that had taken a serious pounding on its underside, as this kind of "invisible" damage can get extremely serious.
It's worth mentioning that the Mac was attending a road rally when it crashed, with the 720S having entered the Zoute Grand Prix, which kicked off on Thursday and is scheduled to bring the cars to the finish line tomorrow.
Given the kind of overly spirited driving that usually takes place during such events, one could easily assume that high velocity was an important factor here. However, since we have no details to accompany these pics, we wouldn't jump to conclusions.
Here's to hoping that this Porsche 918 Spyder-rivaling supercar will return to the road soon.
