Mazda2 Range Welcomes New Automatic Model

The nifty Mazda2 model range is being expanded, with two new models being added: an automatic model, with a 1.5-liter engine and four-speed transmission and the ‘Tamura‘ offering sporty looks at a high-value price.

New features added to the entire Mazda2 range bring increased interior comfort, ride quality handling and sophistication. The Mazda 2 continues the exquisite and dynamic design concept while receiving a larger five-point grille and larger Mazda badge, which integrate the Mazda2 within the rest of the brand's line-up. In addition, new fog lamps and wheels provide a stronger sense of quality and sportiness.

At the interior, the higher quality feel is confirmed, with revised finishes and decorative parts. The instrument cluster is newly redesigned, as well as the seat patterns and fabric colors, meter panel with blackout finish dials and chrome rings, and centre stack, which is finished in piano black.

While the Mazda2 retains the original Zoom-Zoom driver appeal, our engineers have responded to media and owner feedback about our most popular model which accounts for 25 percent of Mazda sales in Britain. They have developed a revised rear suspension which provides superior ride comfort while also making the rear of the car feel more planted on the tarmac, even on the bumpiest of UK roads,” comments Mark Cameron, Sales Director, Mazda UK.

Making the ‘special’ Tamura model a permanent addition to the line-up gives consumers a high-value variant with a sporty flavour beneath the regular, fully specified Sport models.

The new automatic ‘Mazda2 Activematic’ is certain to expand the appeal of our smallest car. Changing traffic conditions and advances in automatic gearbox technology are steadily increasing the attraction of this kind of transmission and we expect our latest model to account for around eight percent of Mazda2 sales in 2011,” concludes Cameron.

Engines have been re-tuned to comply with Euro5 standards while the five speed manual transition's gearing was revised to save fuel. This result in better fuel and emissions efficiency.

Pricing starts at GBP 9,995 for the UK market (about US $16,000 or EUR 11,700).
