Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) reported March 2011 sales of 30,905 units, an increase of 33.3 percent versus the same month of last year. As a result, the carmaker’s figures for the first three month of this year are up 15.4 percent, with 64,559 vehicles sold.
The company posted strong gains across the board this month, led by the popular Mazda3, which recorded sales of 12,467 vehicles, 9.8 percent more than last year. The more fuel-efficient Mazda2 reported its best month ever with 2,500 sales, while the Mazda5 sold more than doubled from last year - 3,866 vehicles, also enough for its best month ever.
Mazda6 sales also rose 15.3 percent with 4,135 vehicles shifted. Sales of the CX-9 and CX-7 crossover SUVs continue to remain strong. CX-9 posted its best month ever with results of 3,635 vehicles, up 22.5 percent, and CX-7 recorded sales of 3,407 vehicles, up 30.7 percent.

Rounding out the North American market, Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) announced strong sales of 2,282 vehicles, representing a 21.0 percent increase versus last March. MMdM’s year-to-date sales are up 26.0 percent, with 6,671 vehicles sold. Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) shifted 5,787 vehicles, which is down 29.0 percent versus the same month of last year. MCI’s year-to-date sales of 13,645 vehicles are also down, 21.0 percent to be more precise.
