Because nothing says luxury like owning a superyacht and then packing it with all the millionaire toys, including a personal submarine, this announcement feels completely organic. U-Boat Worx is bringing its newest sub to the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show.
Between September 27 and 30 each year, the biggest names in yachting come out to mingle, connect, and show off. The Monaco Yacht Show is one of the biggest and most important trade events, bringing innovation, fresh concepts, media exposure, and, last but not least, finalized deals for new (and old) yachts.
Having U-Boat Worx on the scene makes sense. The Dutch company has just announced plans to be at the show, offering the latest Super Sub unit for public and private viewings and, in the process, a very concrete appreciation of the traits of a "new era in marine technology, [setting] a new standard for underwater adventures."
The Super Sub is among the most recent and luxurious personal submersibles from the company, but it's the only one to boast the title of the world's fastest private sub.
Introduced in early 2021, it has since been fine-tuned and upgraded and can be further customized after order to meet the demands of the discerning owner. This last part refers specifically to the interior, which has been compared to the cabin of a supercar. If you're a self-respecting millionaire, you'll want the interior of the sub to match the styling of your yacht, don't be silly.

The last time we spoke about the Super Sub, it had received even more improvements, earning the descriptor of the most flow-dynamic submersible ever built. Four thrusters delivering a total of 60 kW (80 hp/82 ps) could take it to a top speed of 10 knots (21.8 mph/35.2 kph) and 30-degree climbs and dives. This made it several times faster than any other sub and even faster than a bottlenose dolphin.
That unit started sea trials earlier this year and is on track for a late 2023 delivery to the owner. Meanwhile, U-Boat Worx has kept busy on the unit that they're bringing to Monaco, which features even more enhancements. It boasts 10 Kw (13.4 hp/13.6 ps) of power and the ability to do 45-degree dives and climbs.
Like all Super Subs, this one also offers seating for three people (a pilot and two passengers) and 360-degree views through the proprietary acrylic bubble covering the cabin. The Super Sub can reach maximum depths of 984 feet (300 meters).
As noted above, the Monaco Yacht Show is about showing off and moving assets. The Super Sub from U-Boat Works will be on display here, but it's also being listed for sale, sort of. If you happen to have €1 million to €3.5 million ($1.06 million to $3.7 million) to spare, you could get yours in October 2024.
