Ford went to great lengths to ensure that the new Focus was a reliable car. It was tested both in Dearborn and at their European facilities. Yet about year after the brand new model’s launch the first significant recall has been announced.
Certain 2012 model year cars, both sedan and hatchback, will be recalled in the US, according to an announcement made by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The problem with the car stems from the windshield wiper motor and its connecting cable.

"Water or other contaminants may accumulate in the connector, resulting in an intermittent or inoperative passenger side wiper motor, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash," Ford says.

A massive 140,310 cars built between August 1, 2010, through October 18, 2011, are affected by the recall.
