The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration has closed its investigation into 29,807 2011-2012 Ford Mustangs fitted with a manual transmissions. This was started after owners filed multiple complaints of not being able to shift into gear while on the move.
According to Inside Line, the NHTSA took the data from Ford and analyzed 364 reports linked to multiple shift issues experience by owners while driving.
The conclusion? Most of the reports indicated that the cars needed a shifting effort higher than expected during cold weather driving. The NHTSA said that most of the issues sorted themselves once the drivetrain reached its normal operating temperature.
There was also a small number of complaints that were found to have loose clutch plate bolts as a source and the Blue Oval has introduced a revised fastener to solve the matter. Thus, the NHTSA ordered no recall.
