Although Ford sales decreased seven percent last month compared to the same month in 2013, Lincoln deliveries went up a whooping 43 percent, making it the company's best January in four years.
The luxury brand delivered 5,973 vehicles last month, most of which were MKZ sedans and MKX crossover SUVs. The former sold 2,122 units, an increase of no less than 368 percent, while the latter sold 2,479 example, a 36 percent year-over-year gain.
“Given the difficult weather in our largest sales regions, we are fortunate to have held in at retail as well as we did. A bright spot is Lincoln, which had its strongest sales in four years.” said John Felice, Ford vice president of US marketing, sales and service.
Overall Ford sales slumped seven percent last month, while retail sales dropped five percent. Fleet sales went down 14 percent as the company was unable to fill a portion of fleet orders due to winter weather, the manufacturer announced yesterday.
