Lexus IS-F Entering the Superstars Series

We were more than happy back in 2008 when Lexus decided to fight the German Power War soldiers, introducing the IS-F. We are talking about a saloon that mixes the company’s usual luxury with a level of performance that plays in the supercar league.

Now, it seems that the IS-F will manage to fulfill its go-fast destiny, setting wheel on the racetrack. According to touringcartimes.com, Lexus will enter the Superstars series for this year, with the team MN Lexus Racing introducing two IS-Fs on the grid.

We are talking a bout an Italian production-based touring car racing series. The championship was introduced in 2004 and has grown in popularity since then. Initially, it only included Italian racetracks, but in 2007 it started including other European circuits, also receiving a parallel international series, the International Superstars Series. Starting from 2009, each round includes two races.

This’ year’s series is promising to offer a lot of entertainment,as the races will be more crowded than ever, being filled with adrenaline-offering V8s (the competition only includes V8 race cars). 2011 promises to be a record season, as 43 drivers from 19 teams have been entered. The competition promises to be fierce, as we’ll get racers coming from multiple carmakers, including Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes, Porsche and now Lexus.

The Lexus team has not announced the driver line-up - we’ll be back with more info as soon as this becomes available.

Our say: We know, the IS-F has a fake exhaust, but its performance is real.
