Stellantis has finally kickstarted the revival of some of its most important brands, and curiously, most of them originate from Italy – Abarth, Alfa Romeo, and also Lancia.
Abarth is working on new EV models based on the Fiat 500e and 600e, of course. Alfa Romeo has refreshed the Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover SUV, introduced the all-new Tonale compact crossover SUV, including a first-ever hybrid model, and rocked the limited series lifestyle with the revival of the 33 Stradale. More so, it is also coming out with the new Milano subcompact CUV, which is set to become its first-ever series-produced EV.
Lancia, on the other hand, is taking off a little slower – the company presented the odd Pu+Ra HPE concept and has now doubled up with the fourth generation of the Ypsilon city car based on the CMP / eCMP platform and an EV powertrain it shares with the likes of Peugeot's 208 II or Opel Corsa F EV variants. It remains to be seen how much more popular than the outgoing model it will become, but Lancia is hedging its bets with upcoming ICE-powered models and the return of the Lancia HF branding for a high-performance EV Ypsilon HF packing no less than 237 horsepower.
It seems that some fans have complete confidence in the company's ability to slide out of the shadows as the brand gets reintroduced in Europe, and some of them – part of the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, have already decided that Lancia deserves more than one model in the roster. For example, the virtual artist, better known as Theottle on social media, has recently resorted to CGI slicing and dicing the fresh Ypsilon on top of the Mazda MX-5 to make it into a summer ride – the Lancia Aurelia Roadster.
Remember the ill-fated Fiat and Abarth 124 Spider? Those are the precedents, and obviously, this hypothetical Lancia Aurelia revival (the original is a 1950s model produced with a 4-door saloon and two-door coupe, spider, and convertible body styles) would use the same Japanese template to lower the costs and increase the reliability and fun factors. Anyway, this pixel master is not the only one thinking about more Lancia products.
In fact, Kleber Silva, a Brazil-based virtual artist known as KDesign AG on social media, has decided to have a CGI go at imagining an entire lineup of Lancia models that could span across many segments. The unofficial design projects are composed of a little Delta crossover based on the Rivian R3, a Lancia Flavia Roadster, a Peugeot 508-based Lancia Thema, a Peugeot 2008-based Lancia Musa, and a regular Delta hatchback using the CGI underpinnings of the Peugeot 308. So, what do you think?
