The 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, or Auto China 2024, is shaping up as the go-to automotive spring show, and this year included some amazing premieres – including the new king of the ultra-luxury super-SUV category, aka the 2025 Lamborghini Urus SE plug-in hybrid.
The event, which takes place at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, China, from April 25 to May 4, is currently in full swing. However, the most important premieres were revealed a few hours before the start of the show – such as the Volkswagen Group Media Night. Of course, the Urus SE became the main attraction, not just because of its cool hero color.
Dressed in orange to make sure it stands out in any crowd, the Lambo Urus SE was keen to sweep the carpet from under everyone's feet with its new plug-in hybrid powertrain that's good for a combined 800 ps and 950 Nm of torque, which translates to 789 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of twist as well as a $258k MSRP in the United States.
That's still way less than the Ferrari Purosangue, which is close to $400k, and it's also much more powerful than anything currently on the market (packing an ICE format). More precisely, it not only surpasses the V12-powered 715-horsepower Purosangue but also soars above its 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid (729 hp) and the hideous 2024 BMW XM Label Red (738 hp).
Naturally, that makes it a 'target' for everyone – as customers will surely seek to stand out in any crowd. Lambo already knows that and wants to steal the daily bread of aftermarket outlets with help from its Ad Personam internal customization program – there are literally hundreds of interior themes, paint options, and wheel designs.
Of course, that won't stop intrepid customers from seeking bespoke ideas. As such, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is already on the job and proposes the first (extreme) tuning idea. Probably many more will follow, but this is the moment pixel masters have been waiting for – the start of the arms race on the Lamborghini Urus SE. Ildar, the virtual artist better known as ildar_project on social media, usually plays with CGI-tuned vehicles - so is anyone surprised by this new Urus SE?
Of course not, and the PHEV behemoth looks quite menacing when dressed in green with a partially-black carbon fiber hood, massive aftermarket wheels, plus an all-black aerodynamic kit that includes additional extensions for the already-wide fender flares. Unfortunately, there's just one digital POV, the classic front-three-quarters one, so we can't judge the rest of the design project properly.
No worries, this is just the start – Lambo's Urus has been a darling of the aftermarket world, and things aren't set to change now that the Urus SE comes out as the new king of the ultra-luxury super-SUV hill.
