As you might have already heard, the company founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini prepares to send off the Huracan into the great beyond. With the V10-powered supercar's demise, Audi will stop making V10 engines as well. But how has it come to this?
First and foremost, we must remember that Lamborghini and Audi go a long way back. The Volkswagen Group acquired the Raging Bull of Sant'Agata Bolognese in 1998. Be that as it may, the V10 we all know and love can trace its roots back to when Chrysler was calling the shots in the 1980s.

Under the American juggernaut's control, the Italian automaker produced the P140 in 1987, a V10-powered concept with a 4.0-liter V10. Said engine also powered the Cala from the 1995 Geneva Motor Show, yet the Volkswagen Group didn't give Lamborghini the green light for series production.

This very powerplant was enlarged to 5.0 liters for the Gallardo, a naturally-aspirated V10 unrelated to Audi's 4.2-liter FSI V8. It's also important to note that Lamborghini's 5.0-liter V10 is a Lamborghini design through and through, whereas the subsequent 5.2 is derived from the aforementioned 4.2-liter FSI V8.

Due to ever-stringent emission and fuel economy regulations, as well as the 5.2's sheer age, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Lamborghini will switch to eight cylinders and forced induction for the successor of the Huracan. The newcomer is due in late 2024 as a 2025 model with Revuelto-inspired styling cues and some kind of hybrid setup to boot. Until the inevitable happens, Lamborghini will celebrate its V10 heritage with countless limited editions of the Huracan, including the one-off before your eyes.

Enter the Huracan STO SC 10 Anniversario, with STO meaning Super Trofeo Omologata, SC standing for Squadra Corse, and 10 Anniversario referring to the 10th anniversary of the motorsports department. What's kind of curious about the Huracan STO SC 10 Anniversario is that the STO is inspired by the Super Trofeo EVO and Huracan GT3 EVO racing cars.

The racing influences of the STO are topped with more go-faster stuff by Squadra Corse, namely more downforce, mechanical grip, and a titanium exhaust from Akrapovic. Due to increased downforce both up front and out back, there's no denying this fellow has a lower top speed than a fully stock Huracan STO.

Top speed, however, is irrelevant to those who understand that handling matters the most in this kind of vehicle. Being a Lamborghini, the Raging Bull couldn't abstain from giving the SC 10 Anniversario a look-at-me livery. Inspired by the Aventador-based SC63 track toy, the livery brings together Verde Mantis, Nero Noctis, racing stripes in the colors of the Italian flag, and some writing on both doors.

Because of its one-off nature, Lamborghini hasn't shared the sticker price of the SC 10 Anniversario. Even so, we do know that the STO used to retail at 249,412 euros in the spring of 2021. Over in the United States, the original MSRP was 327,838 bucks. With this level of personalization, chances are the SC 10 Anniversario clocked at least half a million.
