A long-time KTM rider and American off-road legend, Kurt Caselli keeps on inspiring people even after his untimely death in the Baja 1000 rally, on November 15, 2013. His family has put up the Kurt Caselli Foundation, a charitable body whose goal is to protect other off-road riders from suffering the same fate as he did.
The Kurt Caselli Foundation was launched with support from both his family, friends, fellow-riders and racing teams and manufacturers, and it also has a brand-new website which tells the whole story and describes the main mission of the organization, kurtcaselli.com.

The main goal of the foundation is providing a safer racing environment for off-road riders, and the debut of the Kurt Caselli Foundation will in fact be made this very weekend at the SCORE San Felipe 250 event. The KCF will be involved with the pre-sweep trucks which will check the highly populated spectator areas and help clearing potential dangers.

As the KCF mentions, the mission is a three-part endeavor:

1. Before racing, the foundation is committed to encouraging, developing, and standardizing safety precautions that will help minimize risk outside of the rider’s control.

2. During racing, the foundation is committed to developing, establishing, and encouraging the use of safety equipment and policies to increase safety of the riders.

3. After racing, the foundation is committed to providing a safety net that allows and encourages former racers to further their education and reach career goals for themselves and their families.

All donations will go to the Kurt Caselli Foundation and will be used in compliance with the official purpose of the organization. Donations can be made via PayPal o by sending a check to

Kurt Caselli,30, died after a crash in the Baja 1000 rally past November, with the investigations showing evidence of his bike hitting an animal and causing severe injuries to the rider. Until this unfortunate accident, 2013 was tremendous year for Kurt Caselli, especially as he made his Dakar debut, substituting for KTM Factory rider Marc Coma, who could not be part of the rally because of incomplete recovery after a crash.

Finishing in the 31st position out of a total of 125 riders who got to cross the finish line, Caselli later became a full-time KTM Dakar rider, after Cyril Despres went to Yamaha. Visit  the Kurt Caselli Foundation website for more info and make sure you check the extensive video gallery, as well.
