After Christian von Koenigsegg teased us with an upcoming mystery hypercar dubbed Agera RS, the Swede now upped the ante, announcing that a megacar will debut at the Geneva Motor Show. Thinking about it retrospectively, it seems like Koenigsegg matured nicely in the 21 years since the Angelholm-based company started business.
Back in 1994, Christian was a young lad with a big dream – to create a world-class supercar. His ambitions and efforts led to the first street-legal Koenigsegg ever made – the CC8S that was built from 2002 to 2004. With 646 HP from a supercharged 4.7-liter Ford Modular V8 and a 0 to 100 km/h run of 3.5 seconds, the Koenigsegg CC8S was to Sweden what the Pagani Zonda was to Italy - the startup hypercar that could.

Over the years, even more extreme machines followed. But the modern era of Koenigsegg starts in 2010 with the Agera, the model that spawned the Agera R and Agera S. After these two mind-boggling hypercars, the One:1 proved that the small Swedish company can go head-to-head with the best from Ferrari and Porsche. But Christian doesn't plan to rest on its recent creations' laurels, thus teasing us with the soon-to-be-revealed Agera RS and Regera.

We've covered the Agera RS, putting our two cents on a lighter, more powerful and aerodynamically-conscious Agera R, but the Koenigsegg Regera is an even greater riddle... and thriller. In a teaser published on the company's Facebook account, we're told that the Regera is a "Megacar," which is the fancy way of saying 1 megawatt (1,341 bhp / 986 kW) of power is to be expected from it.

The One:1 was also dubbed the "world's first megacar," also because of its 1,341 bhp produced by a 5.0 twin-turbo V8 motor. It's a far fetched idea, but maybe this Regera thing is a more focused One:1... or an all-new model. Who knows? The only other detail Koenigsegg shared about the upcoming megacar is that Regera can be translated into to rule over, govern or reign over. Hmm...
