The Lotus F1 team has just released a short promo video through which they have announced that Finnish driver, Kimi Raikkonen will stay with the British team for the 2013 season. Kimi is currently third in the drivers’ standings, and him staying at Lotus was a predictable move, and it was to be expected.
In order to remain with the team, the 33 year-old had to meet some performance criteria, but the Finn had no problem in doing so. He has not won any races this year, but with six podium finishes and excellent consistent and surefooted driving, Lotus really had no better alternative for the upcoming season.
With a steady incremental increase in the performance of the Lotus F1 car, as well as Kimi regaining his F1 boots after two years spent rallying, next season should see him even closer to the top than he his now, we say.
