Kia to Present Hybrid Cee'd, Sorento at Frankfurt

There are only a few days left until the official debut of this year's Frankfurt Auto Show so automakers hurry to announce their latest contraptions to be revealed at the event. Kia for instance today said it will bring the hybrid versions of the cee'd and Sorento at the Frankfurt show and will display them together with the facelifted models we told you about a few days ago. Obviously, both models are especially designed to cut fuel consumption and emissions as much as possible, with their powertrains specifically matted to electric units and make use of electric power. The cee'd Hybrid is powered by the same engine as the Forte Hybrid, which will be also attending the show, with gasoline used as primary source of power. The Sorento on the other hand uses a 1.6-liter powertrain connected to twin turborchargers that raise the maximum power level to 161 bhp. According to autocar.co.uk, with the help of an electric unit, this engine reduces CO2 emissions to around 119 grams per km. Kia will build the new Sorento at the KMMG plant in West Point, Georgia plant, with first models projected to roll of the assembly lines in the last months of 2010. "It will be a historic milestone when the first Sorento rolls off the assembly line at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in West Point, Georgia later this year," said Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing, KMA.
